Intel Powered Honeycomb Tablets Soon To Come
When it comes to processors on the latest Android tablets, NVIDIA and Arm dominate the market. Only the most powerful tablets make use of their processors. The Motorola Xoom and the LG Optimus Pad both make use of a 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 AP20H dual-core processor. Both the iPad and the iPad 2 make use of ARM processors, the 1 GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor PowerVR SGX535GPU Apple A4 chipset and the 900 MHz dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 proccessor PowerVR SGX543MP2 GPU Apple A5 chipset respectively. This 2011, Intel is planning to give the 2 dominating forces in the processor market a run for their money.
In the world’s largest yearly consumer technology tradeshow, CES 2011 featured Intel’s new Atom chipset specifically designed for tablets. The popular manufacturer of processors introduced their new Z670 45nm Intel Atom processor, which was featured in a number of prototypes. According to the processor manufacturer, we will be seeing approximately 35 designs of the chipset making its way to devices from this year to 2013.
The chipset boasts a unique two-chip architecture that offers enhanced performance without draining the batteries too fast. This means that you will enjoy powerful processing and multi-tasking without having to charge the batteries too often. However, processors made by the competition also offers this much performance. So, what does Intel have to offer that the others do not have?
Compared to other processors, the Z670 45nm Intel Atom processor is more compact. In today’s ever growing advancements in technology, portability is the main goal. With a processor as compact as this, there is more room for more options, hardware, and other features. This is what makes Intel’s chipset so attractive.
In the recent CES, Intel featured their chipset in various Windows Phone 7 devices. Now, they are currently in negotiations with Google to feature their CPU in a number of future Honeycomb tablets. Rumor has it that a number of tablet manufacturers are about to release Intel powered tablets on the third quarter of 2011.
