ViewSonic Demonstrates Oak Trail Powered Tablet at Computex
Today at Computex ViewSonic showed off their first tablet powered by the new Intel Oak Trail processor, the ViewPad 10 Pro.
The ViewPad 10 Pro has a 10 inch screen and is capable of running both Android 2.2 and Windows 7. While the ViewPad 10 does not run the latest Android OS release, HoneyComb, users are able to switch instantly between Android and Windows as Android is virtualized within the Windows environment. This means that there is currently no Android App Market support for the device, though there is support for the Amazon Appstore.
As the tablet is powered by Oak Trail it is expected to have a longer battery life than its competitors, as Intel promotes their chip as being one of the most power efficient on the market.
Weighing in at 800 grams, the ViewPad is slightly heavier than the iPad 2, though lighter than some of its competitors. It is expected be available in June, and will be between the $699-$799 price points.
